VAW Prevention Network member Action Scotland Against Stalking are starting to see the results their of their hard work to protect victims of stalking. The Scottish Government is considering amending the Criminal Justice and Licensing Bill to ensure greater legal protection for victims of stalking. Read a Sunday Times article.
The Crown Office Procurator Fiscal Service is making a training DVD about stalking featuring campaign leader Ann Moulds. Strathclyde Police Professional Standards Department have revised procedures in investigating stalking crime. Recommendations have been proposed to all stakeholders within the relevant Strathclyde Police Departments. They cover the areas of crime recording, investigation and staff training.
Victims of stalking will also be automatically highlighted on a data base as a 'vulnerable person' which means that the progress of the enquiry will now be directed and monitored by a Senior Officer.
