Human rights organisation with goal to challenge the increased sexual objectification of women in media and popular culture, because of its links to discrimination and violence against women. The main way in which it challenges objectification is by challenging mainstreaming of the sex industry and campaigning against commercial sexual exploitation.
Raises awareness of the links between objectification, commercial sexual exploitation and sexism by lobbying, campaigning and providing information to both colleagues in the women’s rights sector and human rights activists as well as working with grassroots activists, student and trade unions. Lobbies policy makers for change and has a proven track record of organising lively grassroots activism across the UK to ensure that the sexual objectification of women is debated at both a public and political level.
Raises awareness of commercial sexual exploitation through work on lap dancing, pornography in the mainstream media e.g. lads' mags and 'newspapers' such as The Sport and challenging demand for prostitution.
