DOORWAY, South Lanarkshire Partnership on Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women

Role/remit

Multi-agency partnership on domestic abuse and violence against women which

  • provides and implements strategic framework that promotes and supports multi-agency response to domestic abuse
  • develops services
  • improves protection for women, children and young people
  • prevents and reduces domestic abuse through challenging attitudes and preventative interventions
  • monitors and evaluates outcomes

Services for:

Statutory, voluntary and independent organisations and agencies which provide support and services to women, children and young people experiencing domestic abuse.

Prevention work: primary, secondary and tertiary

  • Raises awareness of domestic abuse and violence against women via publicity and training, both general and specific e.g. teachers and pupils
  • Membership of group promoting establishment of White Ribbon Group in Scotland
  • Organises conferences, seminars and training events e.g. men against violence against women; human trafficking; prostitution; sexually bullying; masculinity and control of other men and women; Respect training for teachers and youth workers
  • Promotes and encourages use of prevention programmes and materials within schools, youth and group work
  • Theatre productions for schools e.g. Baldy Bane

Other prevention work in area

Local Women’s Aid groups provide sessions to some schools in South Lanarkshire.
