Dumfries and Galloway Domestic Abuse and Violence Against Women Partnership

Role/remit

Multi agency partnership working towards the elimination of violence against women.

Services for:

Works strategically.  Group members include the police, social work, education, NHS, voluntary sector, procurator fiscal, local solicitor and so on.

Prevention work:

Works to raise awareness of the issues surrounding VAW. Runs a programme of training events including an annual conference.  Works with children and young people in schools.

Other prevention work in area

Pilot area for the Getting it Right for Every Child Domestic Abuse Pathfinder.
Women’s Aid children’s workers in Dumfriesshire and Stewartry and in Wigtownshire.

Evaluation of prevention work

Two community consultations to assess the impact work has made on the knowledge and understanding of local people towards VAW.  Training routinely evaluated.
