Children and Young Person’s Network
Role/remit
The National Children and Young Person’s Network brings together professionals to implement the Scottish Executive’s Preventing Domestic Abuse – A National Strategy and the Scottish Government’s National Domestic Abuse Delivery Plan for Children and Young People.
Provides a two-way channel of communication between those involved in implementing prevention initiatives locally or nationally and the Scottish Government policy making groups, in particular the National Domestic Abuse Delivery Group and relevant sub groups.Promotes opportunities for members to share local and national good practice information about developments in the field of preventing domestic abuse and violence against women, with a view to informing policy development and facilitating the replication of good practice examples across different localities.
Ensures local and national prevention initiatives are informed by emerging research, policy and legislation in relevant areas such as education, child protection, gender equality and violence against women and children.
Services for:
Self–organised group, with members from a variety of geographic areas around Scotland. The membership includes officers with a specific prevention remit and those who have prevention as a remit along with other core responsibilities i.e. development of violence against women partnerships or members of voluntary sector women’s organisations including Rape Crisis and Women’s Aid. Zero Tolerance National Prevention Workers are also members as well as a representative from the Equality Unit at the Scottish Government. Currently Glasgow City Council provides premises and refreshments for the six-weekly meetings which are chaired by West Dunbartonshire Council’s Prevention Worker.
